AFTERCARE

The aftercare advice that is given, only applies to piercings that are performed in our own studio. If you have had a piercing from another piercing studio then you should take their advice, not ours.

Our piercing techniques are radically different from any other studio, as are our healing times.

The healing times stated in the following instructions are a Guideline only. If the piercing suffers an accidental knock or trauma then it could take longer.

When the piercing procedure has been completed, the client is usually so excited that they cannot concentrate fully. Who can blame them? A painless piercing is like winning a prize. For this reason, as well as giving verbal advice, they will have received full written instructions complete with our telephone number and e-mail address attached. On the reverse of these instructions is printed a FREE FITTING VOUCHER. This will save paying the fitting charge when changing the jewellery for the first time.

If the piercing requires, the client will have been given some cleaning and healing solution with instructions on it’s use.

It is of the utmost importance that these instructions are followed carefully.

Should a client have problems with the healing of a new piercing then we can always give them further advice. If necessary we can supply something flexible for clients that are unable to prevent themselves from knocking their piercings. Fortunately, this is a rare event. However, should a problem occur, DO NOT remove the piercing jewellery until you have consulted with your doctor.

EAR PIERCING(ear lobes)

! VERY IMPORTANT !

If the piercing becomes infected, see your GP or a Medical Practitioner before removing the jewellery.  We can remove the jewellery for you with your free fitting voucher provided when purchasing your new piercing. A charge applies if voucher has been lost, left at home etc.

Keep the piercing jewellery in ALL the time, 24/7, night and day, for at least 2 MONTHS (8 weeks). It does take at least this long for the ear to heal properly.

DO NOT attempt to change the jewellery until FULLY HEALED. If the piercing has suffered an accidental knock, or trauma then the healing time will probably be longer.

When the piercing has fully healed, ALWAYS wear jewellery in it , even whilst sleeping. It can heal over very quickly if left empty.

NEVER use Cotton Wool, Buds or Pads. The fibres get stuck in the piercing and are often the main cause of problems. Clean tissue may be used instead.

Wash Hands before touching the piercing.

NEVER knock the piercing (or “Fiddle” with it). Squeezing the back of an earring on too tight can cause the earring back to disappear inside the ear lobe which may need surgery to remove it. Only touch the piercing when cleaning!!!

WET the jewellery BEFORE moving it.

ONCE PER DAY ONLY (NOT TWICE), very gently, wash the piercing, in the Shower or in a Wash Basin, with normal soap and water.

It is better for the piercing to clean it once every two days rather than twice per day.

Dry GENTLY with a clean paper tissue.

Apply ONE DROP of after-care lotion to the front of the piercing and ONE DROP at the back. Sea Salt mixed with warm water, (not Table salt as there are chemicals in it) may be used instead, especially if the piercing is sensitive to the after-care lotion.

We do not recommend the use of any other products on the piercing.

A VERY small movement is then given to the jewellery e.g. rotate the earring a 1/4 turn backwards and forwards, twice ONLY.

Again, dry the ear GENTLY with a paper tissue.

Swimming need not be stopped.

When changing earrings, dip the back of the earring into some antiseptic cream before putting it into the piercing. Always fit new earrings very slowly and gently otherwise it is possible to make a second hole out of the back of the ear.

When the time comes to change your earrings, it is important to only wear solid silver, gold, surgical steel, titanium or even platinum. Stay away from Fashion earrings as they can turn the skin black or green - with the result that you may lose the ability to wear earrings in that piercing in the future.

EAR CARTILAGE PIERCING

(Pierced with the AccuPierce Tulip Needle only)

! VERY IMPORTANT !

If the piercing becomes infected, see your GP or a Medical Practitioner before removing the jewellery. We can remove the jewellery for you with your free fitting voucher provided when purchasing your new piercing. A charge applies if voucher has been lost, left at home etc.

CAUTION

This piercing is very prone to accidental knocking with hair brushes, hugging friends, putting on clothes, etc., etc. . . . . . . even sleeping on it can cause severe irritation . . . . . it can easily become red, swollen and infected and is much more sensitive than the earlobe.  The HELIX and FORWARD HELIX piercing is particularly difficult to look after safely.

NEVER use Cotton Wool, Buds or Pads. The fibres get stuck in the piercing and are often the main cause of problems. Clean tissue may be used instead.

Keep the piercing jewellery in ALL the time, 24/7, night and day, for at least 4 MONTHS (16 weeks). It does take at least this long for the cartilage to heal properly.

NEVER knock the piercing (or “Fiddle” with it). Only touch the piercing when cleaning!!!

WET the jewellery BEFORE moving it.

Wash Hands before touching the piercing.

Apply ONE DROP of ear care solution to the front of the jewellery and ONE DROP at the back of the piercing. Sea Salt Water may be used instead, especially if the ear is sensitive to the ear care solution.

Do not use any other products on the piercing.

DO NOT MOVE, TWIST OR ROTATE THE JEWELLERY!

Again, dry the ear GENTLY with a paper tissue.

Check that any screw-on beads are sufficiently tight, using latex or rubber gloves. Fingers alone cannot grip well enough.

Swimming need not be stopped.

When fitting new jewellery, use some antiseptic cream to help the insertion and always go slowly and carefully.

NOSE PIERCING

(Pierced with the AccuPierce Tulip Needle only)

VERY IMPORTANT

If the piercing becomes infected, see your GP or a Medical Practitioner before removing the jewellery. We can remove the jewellery for you with your free fitting voucher provided when purchasing your new piercing. A charge applies if voucher has been lost, left at home etc.

Keep the piercing jewellery in ALL the time, 24/7, night and day, for at least 2 MONTHS (8 weeks). It does takeat least this long for the nose to heal properly.

The nose can heal up within 20 minutes on the inside preventing insertion of jewellery thus needing re-piercing.

NEVER use Cotton Wool, Buds or Pads. The fibres get stuck in the piercing and are often the main cause of problems. Clean tissue may be used instead.

Wash Hands before touching the piercing.

NEVER knock the piercing (or “Fiddle” with it). PLEASE NOTE THAT IF YOU KNOCK OR ‘PLAY’ WITH THE STUD/RING OR ATTEMPT TO CHANGE THE STUD/RING BEFORE IT IS HEALED THEN YOU MAY CAUSE A RED LUMP TO APPEAR. If this happens, there is no easy answer to getting rid of it. The only way that the lump will go is if you leave the piercing totally alone. This could take a couple of weeks.

Only touch the piercing when cleaning or changing the jewellery!!!

WET the jewellery BEFOREchanging it.

Apply ONE DROP of after-care lotion to the outside of the piercing and ONE DROP inside (only if possible - and with great care). Sea Salt mixed with warm water, (not Table salt as there are chemicals in it) may be used instead, especially if the piercing is sensitive to the after-care lotion.

DO NOT MOVE, TURN OR ROTATE JEWELLERY.

We do not recommend the use of any other products on the piercing.

Again, dry the piercing GENTLY with a paper tissue.

The special nose stud is designed to be worn with the stem pointing up the nose. This is not normally uncomfortable. If it does irritate, move the stud slightly until a comfortable position is found. If the stud causes persistent irritation, then contact us for advice and adjustment.

If the piercing stud comes down the nose, it needs to be pushed back up the nose (towards the face) using eyebrow tweezers or round end tweezers if possible.

BAR closure rings should never be worn with the bar through the piercing. This can cause problems with healing.

Always soak off anything sticking to the stud/ring before removing it.

Swimming need not be stopped.

When fitting new jewellery, use some antiseptic cream to help the insertion and always go slowly and carefully.
